Happy New Year! Sharing a few nuggets to start our New Year off powerfully! Marinate and enjoy! :-)

Being free of psychological time, you no longer pursue your goals with grim determination driven by fear, anger, discontent, or the need to become someone. Nor will you remain inactive through fear of failure, which to the ego is loss of self.

When you deeper self is derived from being, when you are free of "becoming" as a psychological need, neither your happiness nor sense of self depens on the outcome and so there is freedom from fear. You don't seek permanency where it cannot be found...You don't demand that situations...or people should make you happy, and then suffer when they don't live up to your expectations.

Everything is honored, but nothing matters...

When this is your state of Being, how can you not succeed? You have succeeded already.
                        ~ Eckhart Tolle

Today is a good time to reflect upon this past year: the blessings that were bestowed on us, the wonderful things that happened, the difficulties we made our way through.  It is a good time, too, to reflect on all of the things that might have happened, and didn't:  the car accidents that did not effect our families, the illnesses that did not fall upon our loved ones, the storm that did not strike our homes, the unthinkable tragedy that did not befall our children -- all of those sorrowful things that could have happened, and yet didn't.

If during the past year we were not overwhelmed by the enormity of our own good fortune, if we were not overcome with an immense sense of gratitude for all that we have been given and not given, then today could be the day, and this could be the year, and now could be the time when we begin to recognize the power and the magnitude of the grace that holds us, when we let the light of that realization fill our hearts, so much so that our hearts break open, such that our love might pour forth.

Now is the time, and today is the day, and this is the year to ask some important questions: how might I live more fully?  how might I love more deeply?  how might I be a better friend to myself? May this be a year when we ask those questions earnestly and often.  From a place of genuine gratitude, may we ask our way into the answers.

Today is the day, and this is the year, and now is the time.  Now is the only time.

May our thoughts be pure, may our words be kind, may our hearts hold only love.

I Am The New Year

Life, I am the new year.
I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.
I am your next chance at the art of living.

I am your opportunity to practice
what you have learned about life
during the last twelve months.

All that you sought
and didn't find is hidden in me,
waiting for you to search it out
with more determination.

All the good that you tried for
and didn't achieve
is mine to grant
when you have fewer conflicting desires.

All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do,
all that you hoped but did not will,
all the faith that you claimed but did not have -
these slumber lightly,
waiting to be awakened
by the touch of a strong purpose.

I am your opportunity
to renew your allegiance to Him who said,
'behold, I make all things new.'

I am the new year.
